Are you paying your company for a replicated website that doesn't seem to work very well? If so, you're probably wasting your money. Stop sending people to a site that doesn't produce results.
Reason #1
Company replicated websites are not created with internet marketing techniques in mind. They are very pretty sites, yes - but not very effective. As you may know already from my last email, features do not sell, benefits sell. I've never seen a company website sell the benefits. There is very little "marketing" put into these sites and sadly they cost a lot of money to build and some companies charge a fee to even have one.
Reason #2
Your company website, most likely, doesn't handle objections. This is often left up to the distributor to do over the phone. The more you can eliminate the objections at the beginning of the communication process, the more likely a prospect will continue with the process.
Reason #3
Company websites promote the company, not you. In this industry, people follow leaders. You MUST become a leader and you MUST sell yourself and people will follow you. Leaders have their own websites. Amateurs use company replicated websites that don't work.
Reason #4
You have no or very little control over company replicated websites. You cannot have a blog, you cannot create a capture page to generate warm leads, you cannot offer free incentives to captures contact information, you cannot focus your site on one particular aspect of the product or business.
Reason #5
A lot of people, when they see a link which includes a name (ie: http://marysmith.mycompany.com)...will often times remove the personalized part and go directly to the root (ie: http://www.mycompany.com) to find out exactly what the company is. This takes them away from finding out about you and why they should join your team.
