No two women are alike. One young woman embarks on a corporate career, while another young woman still searches within herself to find out what she wants to do with her life; one middle-aged woman finally launches her own business, while another woman looks for a way to balance her work with family life.
But all women have one thing in common: the power of feminine strength. Vickie L. Milazzo, a self-made millionaire entrepreneur and mentor, shows how all women already possess the 10 Feminine Forces—fire, intuitive vision, engagement, agility, genius, integrity, endurance, enterprise, renewal and fusion—that can transform their lives and help them achieve their desired goals. Her book, Inside Every Woman: Using the 10 Strengths You Didn’t Know You Had to Get the Career and Life You Want Now, helps women discover and harness these strengths.
What makes Milazzo’s down-to-earth advice and wisdom unique is that she speaks to all women, and understands that success is not necessarily about financial gain. It is whatever your own personal goals are for whatever your situation in life. This book can just as easily apply to homemakers, students and retirees as it does to career-oriented women. While she covers everything from careers and job success to family and social situations, Milazzo also stresses physical and spiritual improvement, which includes taking time to properly relax, strengthen the mind, body and spirit, and enhance or improve one’s character.
Ten strengths, five promises
The book focuses on five promises that a woman can make to improve many areas in her life, whether to bolster her career, live healthier, better her family or social life, or benefit financially or spiritually:
• I will live and work a passionate life
• I will go for it or reject it outright
• I will take one action step a day toward my passionate vision
• I commit to being a success student for life
• I believe as a woman I really can do anything
When committed to these promises, a woman can fully unleash the 10 strengths within her to live happier, more daring and fulfilling lives. Milazzo encourages women to stop suppressing their inherent feminine qualities, and instead reveals how these qualities can actually help women succeed.
She addresses issues such as the fear (or guilt) of success, feelings of low self-worth, taking on too many responsibilities, doing everything for others and nothing for themselves and other “traditional” values that hold women back. Her practical advice is based on her own experiences as well as those of other women who applied Milazzo’s teachings to their own lives. These are shared through examples, case studies and end-of-chapter success stories that are truly inspirational.
Every chapter in the book is devoted to one of the 10 Feminine Forces, and Milazzo provides provocative and insightful exercises at the end of each chapter. The purpose of these exercises is to get the reader to examine her own life and discover her inner strengths—and then not only harness them, but also to commit to them.
Female Fusion
Her book ends with the chapter on “Fusion,” which shows how like-minded women can get together, structure a meeting or all-girls’ party, and open themselves up to each other spiritually and emotionally. Such an experience can help other women feel motivated, inspired and encouraged to pursue their dreams and desires, as this is where true bonding—or Female Fusion—takes place. The book is a fast-paced, easygoing read. From a personal standpoint, I found Milazzo’s writing style to be warm, straightforward, honest and, for the most part, spiritual. Her words are engaging and I found that as I was reading, she was speaking directly to me. Inside Every Woman is a powerful tool that helps a reader connect with her undiscovered strengths, and a book that should be read over and over again, for one can gain new insights each time it is picked up.
