MISSION STATEMENT

"To create a community for women to connect through mutual interests and social interactions which will lead to enriching and well balanced lifestyles.

To contribute positively to our communities by supporting local charities through volunteering and fundraising initiatives and to make our communities better places to live through our ongoing kindness and generosity to one another"
SPECIALTY
The Girls Nite Out Club™ began as a forum to bring women together for fun and friendship in an atmosphere which is safe and structured. We provide a non-discriminating atmosphere where all women are equal and unique. We want to embrace life and enjoy every day - and there is no better way to do that then with your girlfriends (whether new or old).

We encourage all women to look beyond the bias' that effect our daily lives, to connect with others based on common interests and natural chemistry and not to get hung up on age, economic or marital status. You can surprise yourself by how much you have to offer if you just put yourself out there.

The Girls Nite Out Club™ is a way to get a bit of balance back in your life. Whether you're looking to make some new friends or to get your 'girls night out', this club is for you.

INDEPTH INTERVIEW

43_extra1.jpgWhat is the nature of your business?

The Girls Night Out Club is a women’s social group. We are not a singles club, we are about bringing women together a few times each month for fun activities and forming friendships.

Life is about balance — family, relationships, friends and career. All too often with the pressure of career and motherhood, some women leave their female friends behind only to miss that part of their lives later on.

The Girls Night Out Club provides a unique opportunity to meet other women with common interests while living up the Toronto experience.

What services or products does your business offer?

We organize and host several events monthly. Our events include dinners, live theatre, movies, crafts, sporting and volunteering events, spa days, weekend excursions ... the list goes on. There's something for everyone. You just show up and have fun!

Who is your target market?

Women between the ages of 25 and 65, single, married, divorced or widowed. It's not your age, marital or socio-economic status that's important, it's your attitude.

What is your business mission statement?

"To create a community for women to connect through mutual interests and social interactions which will lead to enriching and well balanced lifestyles.

To contribute positively to our communities by supporting local charities through volunteering and fundraising initiatives and to make our communities better places to live through our ongoing kindness and generosity to one another"

What first sparked your interest in this business and why are you passionate about it now?

I'm from the East Coast of Canada where it's common to know all of your neighbors and treat strangers like family. Moving to a large metropolitan city like Toronto at the age of 19 was a major culture shock for me. I missed the warm and easy interactions that I grew up with and found that the club was a natural forum to introduce that sense of openness and belonging into other women’s lives.

Who inspired you?

I had joined another group at its 1-year anniversary mark and became an events coordinator at my second event. I was immediately drawn to the vision of the this sort of group and was inspired to become an active of it. After coordinating events for that club for 3 years the club organizer moved onto other things in life. I recognized a niche and a need and launched The Girls Nite Out Club as a registered business. Since that time the club has drawn in some of Toronto's most amazing women with our creative events and we continue to do so.

Why did you pursue your own business vs working for someone else?

Since the club’s inception in May 2001, it has grown from a small hobby club into a thriving business. I feel that I have grown with it. It has become a natural part of my life that doesn't even feel like work. I work full-time as a social worker and will continue with both that and running the club.

What are some of the obstacles you've faced and how did you overcome them?

Change is difficult for all of us and as the club grew there were a lot of responsibilities and learning curves as it launched into the business it is today. I was lucky to have the support of the event coordinators and club members throughout the journey. I found an amazing entrepreneurial program for women to network through and to teach me the behind-the-scene ropes.

What is your business's proudest achievement so far?

When I look at our membership ~ the wonderful women who were drawn to the club and the lifelong friendships that have been made here, I know that what this group represents is something I'll always be proud to put my name beside. That's success to me.

What are some of your future goals?

As a long-term goal I'd love to see a Girls Night Out clubhouse, a place where we could just hang out as well as host events. A place to call home. I'd also like to start franchises in different cities and I'm looking for women interested in being a part of that.

What 'Pearl of Wisdom' can you offer to help other women starting out?

Believe in your cause. If your heart is in it and you love what you do, you'll always be successful.

Do you have a favorite quote you'd like to pass on?

"The best things in life aren't things"
