By the time it reached Galveston, Texas on September 8, it was a category 4 hurricane, with tides 8 to 15 feet in height. When it was all over, the storm caused over 8,000 deaths and resulted in $30 million dollars in damage. The hurricane is considered to be the most destructive hurricane in U.S. history. But it had no name.
